The city of Saman is in the river of “Zayanderud” like Isphahan <\/a>and is the second big city in “Charmahal”, and has an important market of handcrafts and farming. Since 19th<\/sup> century, people used to weave and the rugs<\/strong><\/a> of this city are famous for their subtlety and desirability of design, and it can be compared with the best weaved crafts of Charmahal like “Chalshotor” and “Shahrekurd” rugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this rug, the warp is made of cotton yarn and has two wefts. Some old ones are weaved by woolen warps<\/a> and wefts. The knot is symmetrical and has a density of 900 to 1200 knots per square Dm. among the designs, the “Kheshti” (brick-shaped) is used as well, weaved so much beautifully and the design is opted from a rich decorative archive. The used design seems to be more attractive by implementing the knowledge of weavers; and in coloring this rug<\/a>, the some color composition are involved to make it more attractive and even nowadays you can see the bright plant dyes. Complex sequences next to medallion is counted as a characteristic of “Saman” rugs. The sun-like center in the medallion is prolonged toward the margins and has some nested concentric medallion.
