One&nbsp; simple way is to purchase a rug that will act as a runner, such as in a narrow space.&nbsp; Another is to center the rug under your entire sitting area. This means that the&nbsp; front legs of everything in your living room \u2014 your end tables, your love seats, accent&nbsp; furniture, as well as your primary couch \u2014 will sit on the rug. Their back legs will not.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How will this affect\u2026&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026the comfort, decor, traffic patterns, and utilization of your furniture in your living&nbsp; room? For example, a home may only have hardwood flooring. For example, if you choose to have a rug&nbsp; only under your central coffee table, you, your family, and any visitors will likely walk&nbsp; along the edges of the rug more often. How will this feel? Could it even be a tripping&nbsp; hazard?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then again, you may have a relatively small living room. If you recall, a rug that is&nbsp; bigger than your sitting area should not touch your walls. You should leave&nbsp; approximately ten inches between the edge of your rug and the wall itself. If you don\u2019t&nbsp; have those ten inches to spare, you\u2019ll need to go with a smaller rug anyway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>So should a living room rug be bigger than the couch?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, this is not a simple yes or no question.
