They hail from the Balochistan region, which covers portions of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. They\u2019re steeped in the region&#8217;s origins and the Balochi people themselves. Many weavers immigrated from other regions, such as what is modern-day Syria. When people began moving to the Balochistan region, they brought their cultural heritages and rug-weaving traditions from their homes. These came together to become known as Balouch rugs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What makes a Balouch rug unique?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many Balouch rugs available on the market today set themselves apart through their exceptionally high knotting count. This makes the rugs more durable than a machine-made alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps to understand Balouch rugs, we need to understand the Balochi people better. Their culture and heritage are far too extensive to cover in a few paragraphs. In short, there are several tribes throughout the region, though they tend to follow the religion of Hinduism.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s these details that contribute heavily to the unique characteristics of a Balouch rug.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What materials are Balouch rugs made of?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We often reference three types of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rugsource.com\/rug-materials-demystified-wool-silk-cotton-synthetic-fibers\/\">material<\/a>&nbsp;that Persian rug weavers use: cotton, wool, and silk. The Silk Road name has its origins in the rug industry. Balouch rugs are unique in that they sometimes introduce another material into the mix: camel hair.
