The Rug Source Story: Who We Are and Why We Do It

Our goal is to provide you with not only the best possible customer service but to also help you find a rug for any room in your home. However, you may be wondering who we are exactly, what we do, and why we do it. That’s the Rug Source story, and we thought we’d spend a little bit of time today sharing some of those details with you!

Who We Are

So first, who are we? The Rug Source story starts hundreds of years ago, with the weaving of beautiful rugs by the most skilled artisans of their time. These rugs—which are woven with colors, materials, and patterns that capture the culture and values of the time—are so well-made that they last for hundreds of years… and that’s where Rug Source comes in!

Rug Source travels all over the world to find and authenticate these woven masterpieces, then bring them back to the U.S. to sell to homeowners with an eye for expert artwork. We’re here, ready to help whenever and however we can with your rug needs. We’re owned by Mina Daryoushfar and Mohsen Shams, who founded our company in 2002.

What We Do

We are one of the largest online retailers of sustainable rug options in the world. This includes, at times, upwards of 30,000 unique rugs. Many of these are hand-woven pieces from the historic “Rug Belt” of the world. We find much of our inventory in the following countries:

• Pakistan

• India
• Turkey
• Iran
• Nepal
• Egypt
• Russia
• The United States.

We offer free return shipping on up to three rugs for our out-of-state customers and can offer you a fitted rug pad (during some of our promotions, we even include the pad at a discounted price when you buy certain rugs). 

Why We Do It

For a company, defining its “why” is sometimes challenging. However, for us, it’s relatively easy. We believe that all homeowners, renters, and businesses should have access to the best selection of high-quality rugs at an affordable price. The fact that a rug is vintage or antique shouldn’t mean that it’s too expensive. We believe in offering a fair price so that you can find a durable, well-made rug for any space in your home regardless of the dimensions of your room.

Where We Are

We’re proudly located in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have two facilities: a large warehouse where we keep much of our online inventory, and a showroom that’s open to the public. Stop by and visit us whenever you’re in the area. We’re located at 7215 Smith Corners Boulevard.
