Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are woven for centuries which are mainly tribal rugs in the South central Mountain range. Gabbeh is known as Gava in Kurdish and in Persian Gabbeh means raw or natural.

These rugs are the world’s well known coarsely woven Italian rugs. Gabbeh rugs are nomadic rugs which are exclusively knotted for personal use. Another type of Gabbeh rugs is a very thick pile woven in a low knot density. Design of such rugs is geometric and symbolic in shape as well as in style too.

Gabbehs are made with natural handspun wool and all the colors of these rugs are created with natural plant dye.
