Feriden In historical resources related to seventeenth century has come that a group of Armenian of Jolfa in today’s Azerbaijan was sent to south of Esfahan according to ShahAbbas request and resettled in the heart of ChaharMahal and along Zayanderoud in a small region named Fereidoun near FereidounShahr, Bouein and Miandasht. This area had an important role that time because it passed a route that connected Shouh to Apadana of Persepolis. Armenian compulsory banishing of this area maybe was for the reason to banish them from Iran bound with Ottoman Empire and also organize a rural community formed by Armenian and nomads of Lorestan to prevent their entrance to Esfahan.
Region of Freidoun filled so fast with culture and customs related to Armenian churches and the cross shapes. In first decades of twentieth century, in Freidoun, Armenian weavers were keep going weaving rugs based on common methods in their origin and were weaving the rugs by their especial geometric patterns with wool warp and mostly with goat hair. During this century, rectangular patterns entered in Freidoun too because of the commerce Companies effect and were used with a kind of especial elegance: light backgrounds and patterns along each other in color.
The parts used in these patterns, have specified space from each other and patterns have drawn with abundant accuracy with attention to details and had flowering bushes, cypresses and pictures of birds in many samples. Also the method of texture is different: Freidun Rugs, nowadays are weaving based on the common method in Chaharmahal and have cotton yarn warp and two wefts and the knot is symmetric.
