Qazvin or heaven gate (minoo dar and baboljannah) has six thousand years background in human civilization. This city is located in 150 kilometers of Tehran and in the way of Zanjan. During 54 years of Shah Tahmasb Safavi reign, it was the capital of his dominion. The rugs woven in Qazvin, wre not that much to consolidate their name in market, however, in years of thirty and forty, very delicate rugs decorated to Iranian classic designs and like in many ways to rugs of Kashan or Tehran, were woven in this area. The specific property of Qazvin woven that nowadays don’t exist, was using red lacquer that was obtained from cochineal insect.

Today in Qazvin the rugs are woven that have properties of Naein rugs and it has very simple reason and that’s because of the migration of Naein weavers to Qazvin to can work in the season ofgum Arabic harvest. So traditional and delicate designs of Naein, gradually became common among Qazvin masters around little centers like AbivalAbad and Kharman. In a village area in south of Qazvin, some Kurdish people are living that are originally from Kermanshah and belong to Mafi and Ravshand groups and these Kurds weave very beautiful saddlebags and duffle bags.
